360° Film Festival: Europe’s first showcase for 360° content
The launch of the 360° Film Festival, the first European festival dedicated to virtual reality and 360° web contents, was announced at the end of the “What’s Next: 360° Immersion” Conference cycle.
360 FILM FESTIVAL will feature a film competition and an award ceremony, as a part of Screen4All Forum 2016. The event will showcase the most attractive 360° contents, and promote networking between international professionals, both established and emerging. In addition, in order to present a full panorama of virtual reality, Screen4All Forum 2016 will open a 360° marketplace, with an area dedicated to presenting the latest technological innovations. The opening of the Festival call for content is scheduled in February 2016 and will close in early September…
The event’s organizers are grateful to the 2015 edition’s partners, for their active and essential support that played a vital role in the success of Screen4All Forum: the local government of Seine-Saint-Denis, CNC, Plaine commune Grand Paris, CST, Ficam, Grand Paris Pôle Media, and private partners such as Blackmagic, Adobe, and Aspera.
An excited audience attending the talks
On Monday, October 12, professionals gathered to discuss issues related to post-production and visual effects, two industries that are dramatically changing and are in the limelight from both an economic and political perspective. Throughout the day, talks and round table discussions allowed participants to take stock of the market and consider potential development strategies with French public and private experts, with support from several European companies.
The second day’s talks were dedicated to 360° virtual reality and UHD. Screen4All offered, for the first time in France, an event covering virtual reality and gathering key players on the market. Many participants came to learn about the topic and meet over 40 French and international experts. Meanwhile, the Ultra-HDay, a series of talks dedicated to UHD/4K, provided a platform for Europe’s most active professionals in the fields of acquisition, production and screening.
The talks are available as VoD on Screen4All Forum’s website.
The exhibition village
Visitors had a chance to see Blackmagic Design’s Ultra HD Experience, an area presenting the entire 4D production ecosystem and featuring individual demonstrations by the manufacturer’s teams. Several key players in virtual reality also invited visitors to take part in immersive 360° experiences.
Screen4All Campus: a 5-day training course
Supported by the EU’s Creative Europe program, Screen4All Campus gathered 15 European participants from Spain, Lithuania, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania and the United Kingdom. The participants were coached by a dozen experts, who offered theoretical and practical classes over the course of five days, teaching them about funding, disruptive usages and technologies for TV and film, and new screens.
They were able to learn about 4K filming and workflows, with support from Canon, Sony, Panasonic, Arri and JVC. This workshop was headed by Philippe Ros, with technical support from Workflowers. The second part of the course, dedicated to new production, distribution and funding processes, was headed by Djamil Kemal, with presentations by Eric Viennot, Margaret Dunlap, Olivier Piasentin, and Thomas Bidaux.
